As I get older (so long mid-20’s) I realize how crucial it is to have a capsule wardrobe. Not only to feel confident in what you wear every day, but also so that you are investing in timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come. There are a few important things to consider when building the perfect capsule wardrobe. I will show you how to build the best capsule wardrobe for Fall 2023 (and beyond!).

Start with the basics
Every wearable wardrobe starts with the core items that you can rely on in any situation. Work? Have the basics. Out for dinner with boo? Have the basics. Drinks with the girls? Have the basics. What are basics, you ask? The perfect white tee, everyday tank, go-to jeans, and your staple blazer.
Love your layers
The simplest way to accessorize and double the everyday items in your capsule wardrobe is to build your layers. A good cardigan, versatile vest, and a cozy cardigan are great places to start for fall. Add in more cute jackets as you’ve gotten your core 3 out of the way! Pro tip: Invest in pieces that are less trendy and more essential. That way you’re buying quality over quantity and can wear for years!
Versatile bottoms
I love having a variation of bottoms when building a capsule wardrobe for Fall 2023 so that you have different options to choose from. I’ve found that only having jeans to choose from can make your capsule collection feel too boring, so I like adding in a few different styles of bottoms. More versatility brings even more outfit options!
Solid shoes
Sneakers, boots, and some sort of elevated option (flats, heel, etc) are the 3 musts when curating your capsule wardrobe shoe collection for Fall 2023. I personally go for a spectrum of neutrals, that way I can mix and match with the items in my capsule wardrobe.
Dress for the occasion
Transitional dresses are a great way to spice up your everyday wear and help elevate your wardrobe for various events in life (dinners, celebrations, etc.). You can dress them down with your capsule sneakers or dress them up with your boots!
Finishing touches
To complete your outfit, add in staple accessory pieces that are versatile enough to elevate any outfit in your Fall 2023 capsule wardrobe. My trick when it comes to bags is to choose a color that can go with anything. For fall, I think olive green is a great choice – pair it with brown or black and it meshes well!
