How to Make a Vision Board that ACTUALLY Works

I have been making vision boards for the past 4 years and have ~ mastered ~ the art of them. Not only have I seen my life level up each year since doing them, I have seen things on my vision boards come to life that I never would’ve imagined would actually happen. They’re that powerful! It comes down to a science and how you actually implement them into your life that makes them happen. So, I figured I’d share tips with y’all on how to make a vision board that ACTUALLY works as we head into the New Year!

Start by defining your goals / purpose

What is it that you want to accomplish? Why were you put on this earth? What is the highest version of yourself doing? Start by answering these questions to map out what your goals and purpose are. A vision board is meaningless without true purpose!

For me, this used to be the hardest part. Through various years of trial and effort, I found the perfect way to define by goals by sitting down with myself and reflecting on my why. Not anyone else’s.

Meditations are also a great way to do this. The thought of meditating used to seem like it was for buddhas and hippies but it is actually insane how much you can connect with yourself through meditations. Here are a few of my favorite guided meditations that you can listen to!

After mapping your goals, start finding images that match your aspirations

Now for the fun part! After defining your goals, it’s time to start pulling your vision board together. Utilize Pinterest to search for aesthetic images that match your vision for what you want to achieve. I build a board on Pinterest and save everything to it and come back to it on the next step.

To find images, try searches “XYZ aesthetic” or “XYZ vision” or “XYZ quote” – these will show you the best images for your board.

Here are some examples of images I saved:

Start building your collage in Canva

After compiling about 10-30 images that showcase your vision, time to start building your vision board! I have built mine in Canva the past few years. Pull in your most inspirational quotes and images. And don’t be shy on putting your biggest goals on here! Vision boards are intended to show your loftiest dreams – and by doing so you’d be amazed by all that you can achieve.

Implement your vision board

In order for your vision board to work, you can’t set it and forget it! I’ve found that my most successful vision boards are left around for me to look at. The easiest way to do this is by saving your vision board as your phone and computer wallpaper. That way, every time you use your tech it is there for you to glance at! Bonus points if you print it out and keep it at your desk or somewhere you visit a lot.

I hope these practices help you see the goodness of vision boards! To me, this is a MILLION times more impactful than New Years resolutions that come and go within a few months. Plus, it’s amazing to see all that you can accomplish from what you added on your vision board! xx- Kaelyn Page
